SUMMARY
James Bond is
assigned to protect oil-heiress Elektra King from the crazed anarchist
Renard, who has already killed her father inside MI5's London headquarters.
Renard, unable to feel pain thanks to an injury to his brain, had already
abducted and tortured Elektra once before and now seems to be looking
for revenge against everyone involved in freeing her - including Elektra
herself.
CAPSULE REVIEW
Brosnan's
third outing as Bond sees the star in
fine form and much is done to flesh out the character and to add some
depth and complexity to the storyline. It may drag a little in the middle,
and the villains, particularly Renard, are horribly wasted, but overall
the experiment worked and, while no Goldfinger
[1964], it's certainly a worthy addition to the canon and will very
nicely until the next one comes along.
