PLOT SUMMARY

The attempted Martian invasion of the Earth in the 1950s was thrwated when the aliens fell foul ofthe common cold virus. But rather than die, the invaders simply went into hibernation and thirty years later they are revived and a second invasion attempt begins. The Martians can now possess human bodies and are opposed by a small band of resistance fighters.

CAPSULE REVIEW

A surprisingly strong and effective TV sequel to the 1953 War of the Worlds movie which, in its early days, was as good as any small screen SF has ever been. The second season, however, was a disaster and it was these and subsequent episodes which have given the show the poor reputation it has today. Track down the first season episodes however and you will rewarded with an adult and genuinely gripping piece of TV SF that deserved a lot better than the shabby treatment it received at the end.
