PLOT SUMMARY

The history of horror movies produced by the Universal film studios.

CAPSULE REVIEW

An excellent, comprehensive and absorbing documentary on the Universal horror movies, from The Hunchback of Notre Dame (1923) to Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein (1948). Brownlow rounds up a commendable number of the people involved in the productions whose insights are invaluable and the inclusion of the rarer genre films the studio made is particularly welcome.
