PLOT SUMMARY

The aristocratic, secretive vampires are locked in a centuries old power struggle with the thuggish werewolves, the Lycans. But things are about to come to a head when beautiful young vampire Selene falls in love a Lycan. Together, they uncover a plot to create a werewolf / vampire hybrid that threatens the balance of power.

CAPSULE REVIEW

Loud, predictable, cliched and dull, Underworld proved to be a huge disappointment, a film that gives away all of its best moments in the trailer. Beckinsale is out of depth as an action hero, the rest of the cast range from the quitely dignified (Nighy) to the embarrassingly bad (Brolly) and director Wiseman should consider going back to production designing from whence he came - he has a great eye for visuals but hasn't a clue about telling a story. Terribly disappointing. (Full review)
