SUMMARY

Mysterious scientist Exeter assembles a team of top flight scientists at a high-tech research facility where they are put to work on a secret project involving nuclear energy. Exeter turns out to be an alien from the planet Metaluna which is danger of being destroyed in its endless war with the planet Zagon. Two of the human scientists are taken off to Metalune in a last ditch effort to save the planet from total destruction.

CAPSULE REVIEW

A cracking piece of 50s SF that isn't as widely regarded as some of its contemporaries but which nevertheless has much to commend it. The Metalnua mutant is a welcome addition to Universal's pantheon of monsters and is the real star of the film, despite it's brief on-screen appearance. It's certainly more interesting than the rather bland and forgettable human characters with only Jeff Morrow's suitably weird Exeter making any real imapct. The poor performances aside, this remains top-notch entertainment, quite undeserving on its lampooning in Mystery Science Theater 3000: The Movie (1996).
