PLOT SUMMARY

(from film introduction)

The film you are about to see is an account of the making of a cult classic. A group of young film makers, technicians and actors produced a film in Austin, in 1973, which depict the mad and the macabre as it had never been seen before in a motion picture. For them the low budget production in the sweltering heat of the Texas summer would prove a difficult experience and the world wide success of the picture would be soured by dishonesty and corruption. But the events of that summer shoot would change the face of the horror film and lead to the production of one of the most bizarre films in the annals of American cinema history, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

CAPSULE REVIEW

Documentary account of the making of The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (1974). Nearly all the major participants, both cast and crew, are interviewed on camera. The introduction puts its inception into context and the interviews tell the story of the film's genesis, design, casting, shooting and release including many personal anecdotes. Some of the interviewees are bitter about their lack of financial reward and it was a very tough film to make but nearly all seem proud to have been involved in the film. Plenty of rare stills showing behind the scenes. If you have seen The Texas Chain Saw Massacre and want to know how it was made then this is all you need to see. Excellent.
