PLOT SUMMARY

American author Howard Hallenbach is touring the Emerald Isle with his wife and two children. His trip takes a nasty turn when a farmer uproots an ancient Celtic monument and sets free a ten foot tall pagan demigod known as Rawhead Rex.

CAPSULE REVIEW

An adaptation of one of Barker's Books of Blood stories, this is a vast improvement over Pavlou's previous attempt at adapting Barker, the appalling Underworld (1985). Set in Ireland (though apart from a few questionable Gaelic accents, there's little real proof as to its location), at least this one sticks to the spirit of Barker's story if not the letter, though it lacks the disturbing sexual undertones of Barker's novella.
