Il paese del sesso selvaggio (1972) Country of Origin: Italy PRODUCTION SCRIPT DIRECTION PHOTOGRAPHY EDITING AND POST PRODUCTION MUSIC SOUND MAKE UP AND COSTUMES LOCATIONS CAST A British photographer in Thailand, Bradley, flees up-river after stabbing a local thug and finds himself lost in the deep jungles. He's captured by a tribe who force him to take part in their bizarre rituals. Initially, Bradley resists their attempts to induct him into the tribe but as time passes, he falls in love and begins to forge a new live with the tribe. Nearby, however, a tribe of cannibals are lurking... A ludicrous jungle romp that holds the unique distinction of being the first of the Italian cannibal movies. Lenzi's direction is weak and uninvolving and the acting is pretty much what you'd expect, though Ivan Rassimov's ranting is often a joy to behold. What's really lacking is the gore that Lenzi would unleash in force with his later cannibal movies (Mangiati vivi (1980) and Cannibal Ferox (1981)) - Il paese is an anaemic, underachieving travelogue that will try the patience of even the most ardent of Italian cannibal fans.
