PLOT SUMMARY
Olive the dog mishears a
news broadcast on the radio about Santa Claus having to
postpone Christmas when one of his reindeers is injured
(she mistakes the announcement's call for help from
"all of the reindeers" for "Olive the
reindeer") and sets out to save the day. She's
helped by Martini the penguin but hindered by a deranged
postman, driven insane by having to deliver so many cards
and presents every year...
CAPSULE REVIEW
A typically skewed look
at Christmas from Matt Groening which retains the sly,
sometimes cynical wit of The Simpsons but goes for a very
different look. It also, commendably, does away with that
cloying sentimentality that usually ruibs every other
animated TV Christmas special andis further proof that
Matt Groening is one of the greatest talents ever
produced by American television.
