PLOT SUMMARY

Children in Manhattan are dying from a virulent disease carried carried by cockroaches. In an attempt to eradicate the disease, entomologist Susan Tyler genetically engineers a strain of mutant insect that secretes a fluid deadly to cockroaches. The bugs are released and the plan seems to work spectacularly. The new bugs were meant to die off after a single generation, but they survive and evolve. Three years later, Tyler finds that her bugs are alive and well and have evolved into a predatory monster that can mimic the shape and behaviour of humans.
