PLOT SUMMARY

Somewhere in the north of England is the small, isolated town of Royston Vasey. Outwardly, it seems a sleepy, almost idyllic place to live - but its populated by a bizarre collection of oddballs and freaks; voodoo priests wander the streets; there are nasty goings-on in the upper floors of the local shop ("for local people..."); and a nasty virus causes an outbreak of fatal nosebleeds. It's all part of life's rich pageant in Royston Vasey.

CAPSULE REVIEW

An excellent, ground-breaking and genuinely unique horror sitcom that virtually defies description. Monty Python meets The Wicker Man (1973) goes someway to capturing the bizarre goings on in Royston Vasey which just got weirder and weirder with every passing episode. By far and away the best British television sitcom in a decade, The League of Gentlemen managed to be both hilariously funny and deeply disturbing by turns.
