Morons From Outer Space [1985] When clot Des, stupid Sandra and cretin Julian take the controls of
dumb-bell Bernard's rented spaceship, it crash-lands on the M1. Thicko
journalist Graham, addle-pated diplomat Matteson, and peanuthead CIA
colonel Laribee squabble over what to do with the alien klutzes. Graham
wants to make them into celebrities, Matteson wants to make it with
Sandra, and Laribee wants to make them dead. You'll sympathise with
Laribee. Morons From Outer Space is the worst comedy
to come my way since the similar Bloodbath at the House of Death,
an incredibly unfunny rehash of bits from Close Encounters of
the Third Kind, Star Wars, E.T. The
Extra-Terrestrial and One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest
aimed at people who think vomiting is amusing. The biggest surprise
is that the limited intelligence direction is the work of usually bright
Mike Hodges; here he buries the wit and excitement he brought to Flash
Gordon in the turgid morass of Smith and Jones' feeble-minded
script. Die rather than see this. First Published In: City Limits no.181 [22-28 March 1985] p.20 [UK] Visit Kim's Official Website at www.johnnyalucard.com
