Death on the Nile [1978]

The Nile is the longest, slowest, muddiest river in the world, and this Agatha Christie adaption is entirely appropriate to it. Peter Ustinov's Poirot solves the murder of socialite Lois Chiles with interminable speculative flashbacks. Nice period costumes and suspicious acting from Bette Davis, Angela Lansbury, Mia Farrow, Simon MacCorkindale and Maggie Smith, but not enough to keep you awake.
