Cherry 2000 [1987] A lesser-known Melanie Griffith movie finds her with a red dye job
and Mad Max cut-offs as a futuristic desert ranger
who helps the hero find a replacement part for his dysfunctional and
much-missed sex robot. It opens quite wittily in a future hell singles
bar where prospective pick-ups have to show each other demo tapes and
exchange contracts before a night of sex, but then turns into a pretty
typical wandering-around-in-the-wastelands action movie complete with
dodgy stunts and lots of popguns. Tim Thomerson is a funny villain,
and old-timers Ben Johnson and Harry Carey Jr add a few Western overtones.
