Captain America (1991)

Comics' squarest superhero comes to the screen in a well-intentioned but stingy adventure that has to rush through the World War Two era origins of supersoldier Cap (Matt Salinger) and his Nazi nemesis the Red Skull (Scott Paulin) far too quickly before segueing to the 1990s for a very tame last battle as the patriotically-costumed 1940s hero - on ice for 50 years - gets defrosted and has to run around uninterestingly a lot to save President Ronny Cox from a very unimpressive batch of baddies. You know a comic book movie is in trouble when the hero is too embarrassed not to hide his stars and stripes wetsuit under a trenchcoat for most of the film.
