Camp Blood [1999]

An attempt to mount a blatant Friday the 13th imitation in the aesthetic of The Blair Witch Project, this amateurish effort drags even at its brief 73 minute running time and descends into incoherence for a muddy non-ending. A clown-masked, boiler-suited machete killer is at large in the woods, preying on lovemaking couples and hunters. Four city types set off for a weekend at Camp Blackstone, and run into the regulation local loon [Joe Hagerty] who warns them the place is also known as 'Camp Blood'. The squabbling, unpleasant characters meet up with a husky female guide [Courtney Taylor], who takes them into the wilderness and retells the legend of the mad killer who became the Clown, whereupon the maniac shows up and hacks most of the cast up, leaving the survivor [Jennifer Ritchkoff] insane and hallucinating. Shaky-cam woodland stuff and semi-improv bitching fill in between elementary gore effects and the usual running-about. Of no interest whatsoever. Directed and written by Brad Sykes.
