Jonathan Creek (1997 - ) Country of Origin: UK CREDITS see individual episodes for credits PLOT SUMMARY Jonathan Creek makes a living designing and creating illusions fot stage magicians, chiefly Adam Klaus. His life gets turned upside down when he meets investigative journalist Maddy Magellan who gets him involved in a series of increasingly strange and sinister mysteries which can only be solved by Jonathan's skills as an illusionist and his strange way of looking at the world. CAPSULE REVIEW Although it tended to drift too far into the realms of the silly and the implausible in later series, Jonathan Creek is a good old-fashioned mystery show with lashing of horror and fantasy elements stirred in for good measure. Likeable leads, witty, clever scripts and an unusual premise make it one of the best of the BBC's comedy dramas from the 1990s which had plenty to offer even when it did get rather daft later on.
