The Gruesome Twosome (1967) Country of Origin: USA DIRECTION Director: Herschell Gordon Lewis CREW PRODUCTION SCRIPT DIRECTION PHOTOGRAPHY EDITING AND POST PRODUCTION MUSIC SOUND MAKE UP AND COSTUMES MISCELLANEOUS CAST Elizabeth Davis (Mrs Pringle) PLOT SUMMARY Mrs Pringle and her son Rodney have an odd way of keeping their wig shop in stock - they rent a room to young female students who they then scalp! One of the students, Kathy decides that she wants to track down the killer when her friend Dawn falls victim to the Pringles... CAPSULE REVIEW A tatty black comedy enlivened only by Lewis' trademark gore effects. It tries desperately hard to be funny but ends up looking merely foolish, though the dreadful acting that we'd come to expect from Lewis's films is often quite hysterical. The plot is said to have inspired William Lustig's rather better Maniac (1980). AVAILABILITY UK USA CENSORSHIP HISTORY USA POSTER TAGS The most barbaric humor since the guillotine went out of style!
