PLOT SUMMARY

A group of time travellers from the 23rd century arrive in Japan in 1992 to warn that Godzilla will trigger a nuclear holocaust in the 21st century. They plan to travel back even further in time, to 1944, to prevent the original mutation of a surviving dinosaur by nuclear testing on Ragos Island. But the time travellers are not as altruistic as they seem - with the timeline changed and Godzilla no longer around, they return to 1992 and unleash King Ghidorah in an effort to destroy Japan so that it can't become the major economic power of their own time...

CAPSULE REVIEW

A complex storyline, Godzilla looking wonderful and some great effects (the speeded-up running scenes notwithstanding) result in one of the best of the 90s Godzilla films. As with most time paradox stories, there are loopholes, but it all sort of hangs together well and the whole is a satisfying return to form for the franchise. Probably a good place for newcomers to the series to start with.
