PLOT SUMMARY

French nuclear testing in the South Pacific results in a mutated lizard that grows to incredible size and goes on the rampage. The creature, dubbed Godzilla, eventually makes its way to New York where it devestates the city. A young scientist teams up with a TV journalist and a team of undercover French agents to try to stop Godzilla - but then they find something unexpected in Madison Square Gardens...

CAPSULE REVIEW

An absolute travesty and the very epitome of everything that was wrong with mainstream Hollywood in the late twentieth century. The admittedly impressive effects are allowed to dominate everything, reducing characters to ciphers, plot to a series of set pieces and entirely removing the need for anything even remotely approaching decent acting. Noisy, brainless and frankly insulting to anyone with half a brain, this is not quite the worst film ever made but certainly it's very close. Give me a man in a monster suit stomping on toy cars any day.
