PLOT SUMMARY

Five years after saving New York from Gozer, the Ghostbusters are in trouble - a series of lawsuits and court orders have driven them to bankruptcy and the group has disbanded to pursue other interests. But when they discover a river of ectoplasmic slime running beneath the streets of the city, their investigations lead them to a ancient sorcerer who wants to possess Dana's baby Oscar. Oscar's only hope is the return of the Ghostbusters...

CAPSULE REVIEW

A disappointing follow-up, benefiting hugely from Bill Murray and some great effects, but burdened with a lacklustre script that never really gets going. Peter MacNicol never really gets to grips with his role as the bad guy, robbing the film of any real suspense or sense of menace. The jokes are, at best, merely amusing and the whole thing - while still watchable and occasionally fun, never really hits the heights attained by the first film.
