SYNOPSIS

Ygor rescues the Frankenstein monster from a sulphur pit and together they confront the Baron's son, Ludwig. He wants to dissect the monster but Ygor has other plans - he wants Ludwig to transplant his own brain into the monster's body. A visit from the ghost of his father persuades Ludwig to do as Ygor asks, but he hasn't reckoned with the double-crossing Dr Bohmer...

CAPSULE REVIEW

The third sequel to Frankenstein (1931) maintains the quality, with a good performance from Lugosi as the scheming Ygor and assured direction from Kenton. Chaney doesn't do so well as the monster - nothing was ever going to replace Karloff's definitive portrayal - though his final moments, speaking with Ygor's insane voice, are genuinely chilling
