SUMMARY
An anthropologist and his scientist daughter travel
to Arizona to investigate a mysterious skeleton that has been found
in the desert. But when they try to remove the remains of the creature
from its burial ground, they are pursued by a number of gargoyles who
emerge from their caves to retrieve the bones of their fallen comrade.
CAPSULE REVIEW
Something of a guilty pleasure. By turns atmospheric
and ridiculous, intriguing and infuriating, Gargoyles works best in
its first half when the nightmarish creatures are seen only briefly,
swooping down on speeding cars and attacking remote buildings. When
we get to see Bernie Casey as the head of the gargoyle clan, they just
become another group of actors in not terribly convincing rubber suits.
Still worth seeing though and a lot of brainless - and occasionally
rather spooky - fun.
