SUMMARY

When the police commissioner's wife is mutilated, Lieutenant Braque is put in charge of a massive manhunt for the killer. His investigations lead to Valerie, the surviving victim of a hit-and-run committed by the dead woman. She becomes the prime suspect but as the bodies start to pile up, Braque comes to believe that the killer may be someone in his own department.
