PLOT SUMMARY

Unconvinced that Jason is really dead, Tommy digs up his body and is horrified when a bolt of lightning reanimates him. Before you know it, Jason is up to all his old tricks and teenagers are dropping like flies again at the newly re-opened Camp Crystal Lake. Naturally no-one believes Tommy's story except the sheriff's daughter who springs him from jail for a confrontation with his worst nightmare.

CAPSULE REVIEW

Desperation was clearly beginning to set in by now. Realising that the fans weren't going to sit still for more Fridays without Jason, Paramount went to extraordinary lengths to bring their anti-hero back. The film contains a few nice self-parodic moments - the opening sequence wherein Jason lampoons James Bond is particularly good - and director McLoughlin makes effective use of the fact that Jason is now a zombie. The climax, though nonsensical, is effective in that it brings the series so far full circle; Tommy manages to chain Jason to a huge rock and drops him back into the depths of Crystal Lake. Now, of course, Paramount could get away with subjecting Jason to any indignity safe in the knowledge that they can resurrect him at will. And they were quite prepared to do just that. (Full Review)
