SUMMARY

A scientist trying to develop a super weapon that will ensure a peaceful future for Mankind is propelled into the past from the 21st century when a test firing has unforeseen side-effects. In 1817 Switzerland, he meets a fellow scientist - Dr Victor Frankenstein whose latest experiment is on the loose in the surrounding countryside...

CAPSULE REVIEW

Roger Corman's directorial comeback proved to be a sorry disappointment. It starts badly, recovers only marginally once time-travelling scientist Buchanan makes it into the past, then fizzles out in a messy anti-climax. Aldiss' novel had been full of ideas and genuine invention - the film adaptation looks like a bad hybrid of Back the the Future (1985) and Frankenstein: The True Story (1972). One for Frankenstein or Corman completists only.
