SUMMARY

Edinburgh surgeon Dr Robert Knox needs fresh human bodies for research and resorts to employing grave robbers Burke and Hare. But when the bodies start running out, the pair resort to murder to keep Knox happy...

CAPSULE REVIEW

An under-rated British horror, rather lost in all the publicity surrounding the contemporary Hammer releases. Cushing is on top form as Knox and is supported by a first rate cast all of who give of their best. Gilling's direction is spot on and the photography is wonderful.
