PLOT SUMMARY

Pat, newly engaged to Alan, has to tell Mrs Trefoile, the religiously obsessed mother of her dead lover Stephen, of her forthcoming marriage. But Trefoile believes that Pat and Stephen were married and, with the help of her sinister household, keep Pat prisoner in her old house.
