SUMMARY
Mulder and Scully are approached by a pair of shady, nameless agents
to advise on a puzzling case in which bodies are turning up with their
larynxes crushed from the inside and which remain warm and spasming
some six hours post mortem. The dead men had earlier been caught on
videotape attacking secretary Lauren Kite at an ATM. Mulder's examination
of the tape reveals a spectral image that seems to resemble Kite's boss,
defence contractor Howard Graves, who apparently committed suicide after
refusing the ill-defined advances of a group of Middle Eastern terrorists.
Mulder concludes that Graves has somehow returned from the dead to watch
over Kite and help her to expose his death as murder, orchestrated by
his shifty partner Robert Dorland.
CAPSULE REVIEW
Despite a few fumbles, Shadows is a creditable attempt at a modern
day ghost story, boasting strong performances and some impressive effects.
A creepy and rather tragic tale, well played by all involved, Shadows
may not be the best that The X Files had to offer during
its first run, but it was certainly fine, solid and untaxing entertainment.
