SUMMARY

While Dave Lister is in stasis as punishment for smuggling a cat aboard the mining vessel Red Dwarf, the ship's crew is wiped out in an explosion. Lister is reactivated three million years later, the last survivor of the human race. His only company is Holly, the ship's senile computer, a hologram of Arnold Rimmer, his anally retentive bunk mate and a life form that evolved from his cat.

CAPSULE REVIEW

A solid if unspectacular start to the series that sets up the basic scenario and introduces all of the main characters. Nothing outstanding, but intriguing enough to get viewers hooked.
