SUMMARY

Having got themselves in deep trouble with the captain [thanks to a programmable virus and a huge mountain of potatoes], Rimmer and Lister are thrown into The Hole where they meet an older prisoner, Birdman, and his pet sparrow Pete. Meanwhile, Cat, Kryten and Kochanski lead the Canaries on a mission that lands them a device that can digitize and manipulate time. When, back on Red Dwarf, the time wand meets Pete the sparrow, it has unexpected results.

CAPSULE REVIEW

A great episode that juggles its two storylines well and shows no sign of it having been expanded from a single episode into a two parter. It's a shame that Birdman didn't last the course, though Pete - and his monstrous alter ego - are great, if temporary, additions to the crew.
