SUMMARY

The crew of the Red Dwarf meet the service mechanoid Kryten in the ruins of the crashed spaceship the Nova V. They take him on board and Lister tries to get him to break his programming, to stop being a toadying menial and act for himself. Rimmer on the other hand sees the mechanoid's subservience as a chance to boss him around.

CAPSULE REVIEW

Our first introduction to Kryten, though this is a very different mechanoid to the one we come to know and love in later years. The scenes of the crew preparing to meet their first women in three million years are hilarious and their disappointment at what they actually find is almost too much to bear. An extremely good start to the new season.
