SUMMARY

On a rescue mission, Kryten meets and falls in love with the mechanoid Camille. But when he introduces her to Rimmer, he sees her as someone else, as does Lister. She turns out to be a pleasure GELF [genetically engineered life form] that adapts itself to match the observer's notions of beauty [Cat, naturally, sees himself]. Proving that beauty is only skin deep, Kryten continues to woo Camille even after she reveals her true form, a disgusting green blob. But the arrival of Hector Blob teaches Kryten a valuable lesson about human relations.

CAPSULE REVIEW

A disappointingly routine start to the new season. There's nothing intrinsically wrong with it, but there's nothing special about it either. The Casablanca connection is rather strained, but it was good to see Robert Llewellyn taking the limelight.
