PLOT SUMMARY
The Doctor returns to
the streets of London, in Perivale to be exact, as he
returns Ace home at last. But things are not all they
seem and Ace's friends are being spirited away to a
mysterious planet to act as prey for bipedal Cheetah
People. The Doctor and Ace set out to uncover the truth
behind the mystery and find themselves in a life and
death struggle for survival on a telepathic planet with
The Doctor's old adversary The Master...
CAPSULE REVIEW
The main run of Doctor Who stories ended with this
offbeat but endearing tale that mixes the surrealism of McCoy's era
with the darker overtones expected of the 'Cartmel Masterplan.' The
climactic battle between the Doctor and the Master is superb, as is
the realisation of the alien planet. The Cheetah People are less convincing
perhaps, but the episode tackles some big issues (Darwinism, Nietzschian
philosophy, the power of free will) and tackles them well. The final
line of dialogue has deservedly passed into Who legend.
