PLOT SUMMARY
Landing near Coal Hill school in November 1963 The Doctor and Ace encounter
two warring factions of Daleks hunting for the hand of Omega, a remote
stellar manipulator stolen from the Time Lords and hidden by the Doctor.
CAPSULE REVIEW
With a script editor - Andrew Cartmel - giving the series direction,
it all falls into place. Continuity may have confused the casual viewer,
but with the BBC pitting the programme against the top rated Coronation
Street how many of them were watching? For Doctor Who
fans it's a treat. McCoy
is given a character to play - more than a Time Lord, a traveller who
knows more than he is letting on, as different from other Doctors as
Pertwee was to Hartnell, but isn't that the point? Sophie Aldred is
funny, personable, vulnerable and a great action heroine. The story
really moves. The Daleks look great (and they go up stairs) and the
links to previous stories add something to the story. Brilliant.
