SUMMARY

A malevelant Timelord called The Master arrives on Earth and captures a Nestene energy unit. Re-starting production of the Autons The Master distributes fake plastic flowers throughout the country which when activated would bring the Nestene down to Earth. The Doctor and his new assistant Jo Grant attempt to foil his plan.

CAPSULE REVIEW

A new companion the daffy Jo to replace scientific Miss Shaw[no farewell scene for her] and the first appearance of The Doctor's Moriarty, The Master builds on the previous season's change in format and make complete what is now in retrospect the Pertwee / Letts / Dicks era. The Autons were the most subtle soulless robot villain creation and it is odd they were never re-used. The doll murder caused a minor outcry at the time and still works.
