PLOT SUMMARY

The TARDIS materialises in 12th Century Palestine as Richard the Lionheart leads the Christian crusaders against Saladin and Saracen hordes. Barbara is captured by the Saracens and the others enlist the help of Richard (who knights Ian) in getting her back. But The Doctor and Vicki become embroiled in court politics that could threaten their lives...

CAPSULE REVIEW

A return to form for the Who historicals and one of the best. Beautifully written and acted to perfection (Julian Glover in particular is outstanding), it abandons the more lighthearted approach adopted by The Romans in favour of a more historically accurate and dramatic presentation. Another remarkable example of just how inventive and exciting early Who could be.
