PLOT SUMMARY
A travelling cinema visits a remote Castile community in the 1940s,
bringing with it a print of James Whales' Frankenstein (1931).
The film has a profound effect on two young sisters, Isabel and Ana,
who believe that the monster is real and set out to find him. And in
a nearby barn, they think they've done just that...
CAPSULE REVIEW
One of Spanish cinema's finest achievements, this is a profound and
deeply moving film that gave director Víctor Erice a well deserved
international hit. Beautifully lit, sensitively acted and shot through
with subtle political sub-texts it's a film that works on so many levels
that it demands repeated viewings. It deserves to be far better known
than it is.
