SUMMARY

A spectacular meteor shower blinds anyone that looks at it, leaving much of the population of Northern Europe sightless. In the aftermath, a breed of experimental plants, the carnivorous, mobile Triffids, escape and begin to attack the helpless humans around them. Only a handful of sighted survivors can stop them.

CAPSULE REVIEW

A disappointing and lacklustre adaptation of the John Wyndham novel. Howard Keel is miscast and unconvincing in the lead role and the Triffids are far from convincing. The BBC adaptation is by far prefererable to this nonsense.
