Win WILD PALMS on DVD!

FROM PRODUCER OLIVER STONE AND ACCLAIMED NOVELIST BRUCE WAGNER

Produced by Oliver Stone and adapted by Bruce Wagner (A Nightmare On Elm Street 3) from his own full-page comic strip serial that appeared in Details magazine from 1990 to 1993, the five-part, cult sci-fi TV series Wild Palms finally comes to DVD in March as a two-disc edition courtesy of Fremantle Home Entertainment.

Unfairly compared to Twin Peaks at the time of its original broadcast in 1993, mainly due to its "unconventional edginess", the series is an ambitiously stylized and highly atmospheric mix of cyberpunk surrealism and classic film noir, with episodes directed by celebrated Hollywood directors Kathryn Bigelow (Strange Days), Keith Gordon (Waking the Dead), Peter Hewitt (Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey) and Phil Joanou (State of Grace), and a musical score by Academy Award winning composer, Ryuichi Sakamoto (The Last Emperor).

Set in a futuristic vision of 2007 Los Angeles, the story concerns a successful corporate lawyer, Harry Wyckoff (James Belushi), who is troubled by recurring nightmares about a rhinoceros in his empty swimming pool. Unknown to Harry, him dreams are shared by other people, all of whom have a connection to a controversial US senator, Anton Kreutzer (Robert Loggia), the founder of a Scientology-like religion and a man who has his eye on the presidency. A billionaire media mogul, Kreutzer also plans to introduce a new form of virtual technology into American homes that will allow viewers to interact physically with holographic TV projections.

After taking a new job working for Kreutzer, Harry is introduced to the existence of a secret political war taking place in the US, one where two rival factions are vying for control of the minds of the American public. Digging further, he discovers he has connections to both sides and is soon being manipulated by each against the other. As the conspiracies deepen, Harry finds himself lost in a world of paranoia, crackpot religious cults and neuro-pharmacological mind control.

James Belushi heads an all-star cast that includes Dana Delaney, Robert Loggia, Kim Cattrall, Angie Dickinson, Ernie Hudson, Bebe Neuwirth, Nick Mancuso, David Warner, Ben Savage and Brad Dourif, as well as author William Gibson and Oliver Stone as themselves.
