When he wins the football pools and comes into a small fortune, he spends most of it on a remote country house and starts making plans to expand his collection - only this time, he wants human specimens and sets his sights on art student Miranda Grey... CAPSULE REVIEW A creepy and unsettling psycho-drama with outstanding performances from Samantha Eggar and Terence Stamp, the latter in particular impressing as the unhinged young collector of the title. Wyler's direction had rarely been better and he gets the maximum suspense from the limited locations and tiny cast. The ending is unusually bleak, leaving viewers drained. An excellent film, sadly not as widely seen or discussed today as it deserves to be.
