PLOT SUMMARY
A group of eccentrics and oddballs take part in an illegal cross country
car race, The Cannonball Run. Among those taking part are a man who
believes himself to be James Bond, another man who thinks he's a superhero
and an Oriental team with a high-tech, gadget packed car.
CAPSULE REVIEW
Looking horribly dated now, The Cannonball Run has
some fun moments but much of it just seems rather smug, self-congratulatory
and self-indulgent. Nowhere near as funny (or as nasty) as the similarly
themed Death Race 2000 (1975), it's interesting now
for the appearance by Jackie Chan and for the impressively starry cast.
Nothing much else works though.
