PLOT SUMMARY
Scottish rebel William
Wallace leads an uprising against the English and their
cruel king, Edward the Longshanks. Against seemingly
insurmountable odds, Wallace units Scotland's many
warring clans into a rebel army to repel the invaders
from south of the border.
CAPSULE REVIEW
Beautifully crafted but
historically inaccurate, Braveheart is on the one
hand a magnificent achievement and another it's a
travesty of the truth. One's enjoyment of the film is
going to largely depend upon the ability to overlook the
fact that, once again, Hollywood chooses to rewrite
history - get past that and you've got a rollicking
action epic with some of the most astonishing battle
sequences ever filmed. Included here because of scenes of
Wallace being inspired and advised by the spirit of his
dead father.
