Scientists at Project Elixir genetically engineered Lix, a youn girl whose bloodstream was supposed to hold the answer to all known human diseases. But it goes wrong and Lix's blood becomes a highly addictive narcotic. Twenty years later, Carl Dyson, the former head of Project Elixir and now a successful writer, rescues Lix a group who have become addicted to her blood. But he too becomes an addict and he and Lix are forced into a campaign of murder to keep her blood levels up.
