SUMMARY

Vampires are being struck down by a condition known as The Reaper that provokes in them a bloodlust so powerful that they will even feed on each other, spreading the infection and creating new Reapers. Blade is asked by his arch-enemies, the vampire's Shadow Council to help and he reluctantly teams up with The Bloodpack, an group of vampire commandoes. But will even they be enough to prevent the destruction of both Mankind and the vampires?

CAPSULE REVIEW

Despite a better script and more interesting director at the helm, Blade II simply takes all the flaws of the first film [the relentless machismo, Snipes' ludicrous posturing, a clichéd "sunglasses after dark" take on vampirism, Kris Kristofersson] and adds some new ones for good measure [action scenes edited so badly you can't see what's going on, terrible CGI effects and a hopeless  supporting cast, including a criminally wasted Donnie Yen]. Snipes gives all three of his expressions [stoical, slightly hurt, snarling] a good work out and manages to survive the climactic and very physical hand-to-hand fight without ever losing his shades. Del Toro should go back to making his smaller, more personal and infinitely better films very quickly...
