SUMMARY

In the near future, the Japanese economy is in ruins and the streets are ruled by brutal, out-of-control teenagers. In an effort to quell the violence and divert aggression into something else, the authorities take 42 of the most violent kisd, dump them on an island with a variety of weapons and a map, and fit them with collars that explode if they trangress the rules. The kids then have three days to fight eachother to the death, the winner being the last one standing...

CENSORSHIP HISTORY

Japan
Rating: R-15
In Japan, two versions exist - the original was rated R-15 and was prohibited to anyone below the age of 15. Fukasaku re-edited the film and released a 'special version' which was passed for younger audiences. Strangely, little footage seems to have been removed - instead Fukusaku made some 100 "edits" [mostly changing sound effects and trimming some footage] and added an additional 8 minutes to give a more 'acceptable' context to the on-screen mayhem.

Rating: 18
