PLOT SUMMARY

Dr Evil and Mini-Me escape from prison and team up with Goldmember in their latest bid for world domination. They plan to travel back in time and abduct Austin Powers' father, Nigel Powers. Austin pursues Evil, Mini-Me and Goldmember to 1975 where he teams up with an ex-girlfriend, detective Foxy Cleopatra, to save his father.

26: USA - filming begins

January
24: USA - MGM/UA objects to the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) about the use of the title Goldmember, claiming that it infringes on the copyright of their James Bond series. The MPAA uphold MGM/UA's objections and New Line prepare to appeal.
28: USA - all teaser posters and trailers bearing the Goldmember title are recalled.

February
1: USA - New Line cinema loses its appeal and is forced to temorarily drop the Goldmember title.

1: USA - filming ends

9: USA - Variety reports that negotiations are under way to resolve the problem caused by the title. By the end of the month the title is officially reinstated to Goldmember.
