PLOT SUMMARY

Successful Wall Street businessman Patrick Bateman leads the archetypal yuppie lifestyle by day, but transforms into a brutal serial-killer by night. Motivated by materialism and the urge to succeed no matter what the cost, Bateman finds himself losing control of his murderous urges. But persuading anyone he's responsible for the hideous crimes may not be so easy...

CAPSULE REVIEW

A surprisingly effective adaptation of Ellis' supposedly unfilmable (and hugely over-rated) novel. Bale is fantastic as the twisted Bateman and the film is shot through with the bleakest humour imaginable. A perfect reminder of just how shallow, awful and depressing the 1980s really were.
