PLOT SUMMARY
An anthology of series of short sketches and skits lampooning late-night
American television. Several of the episodes are fantasy.
CAPSULE REVIEW
A spasmodically funny collection of comedy skits originally intended
as a follow up to Landis' The Kentucky Fried Movie
(1977). Like the earlier film, some of the jokes work, but most fall
flat. Particularly tiresome is the strangely unfunny send up of 50s
SF movies from which the movie takes its title. When it's good (Bullshit
or Not or Son of the Invisible Man) it's very
good indeed but too many clever ideas are squandered and far too many
of the sequences just aren't funny. Very much a hit and miss affair
then, with more misses than hits and perhaps too many guest stars for
its own good. Also too many directors, come to that, resulting in a
film that lacks any real identity and wastes so many opportunities that
it rapidly becomes irritating.
